Earth’s Temperature is Rising, What can be done?

Decade by decade it has been observed that Earth’s surface temperature is rising exponentially, and the past several years have been among the warmest on record. What are the effects of Global Warming? Global warming has caused numerous effects on the climate of planet Earth. It is responsible for creating grave threat for environment as well as poses a great threat to species. A rise in temperature causes polar ice caps and glaciers to melt, which can cause a rise in sea levels and warmer waters. Then there is a risk of spreading of diseases. Diseases like malaria, cholera and dengue fever are climate sensitive. There is definite chance of spread of various infections and transmission of the diseases when a rise of temperature is seen. There is also rise in Droughts due to rise in temperature. Global warming will cause a further rise in temperature of already warm climates, consequently resulting in droughts. Then there is destruction of ecosystems. As earth’s temperature rises, animals living in polar parts of the earth will have to face warmer weather. This will likely cause the animal life to largely decrease in numbers as they try to fit in and adapt to climate change. Either way, the ecosystem will change.

It is therefore have become more than necessary to learn the steps to mitigate the effects of global warming and this can start by making changes in your daily routine, in your daily life, you can reduce your carbon footprint and help the environment. Go green to save Earth with Mitigation is therefore a necessary step in reducing climate change due to global warming. It involves reducing the expansion of greenhouse gases, which are known to trap heat, in the atmosphere either by reducing sources of these gases for example, Fossil fuel burning for heat, electricity or transport or enhancing the “sinks” that accumulate and store these gases such as the oceans, forests and soil. Go Green Initiative is one name which is propagating the movement in India. If we apply these in practice, we will start working towards curbing down the state of global warming in India.
